About Stage 1 and Stage 2

Stage 1 garments designated for the early recovery period, when your surgeon recommends them. Stage 2 garments designated for later recovery and ongoing support, once your surgeon advises a change.

Stage names and compression vary between brands. Choose the coverage and fit your surgeon recommends; do not switch stages based only on time since surgery.

Stages are design designations, not a standardized compression rating, and they are separate from our Light/Medium/Strong support labels. Fit, coverage and closures differ by garment; your surgeon selects the fit and wearing schedule.

Recovery stage

Shown as a Stage 1 or Stage 2 chip on the garment. It indicates which recovery period the garment is designed for, not a compression measurement.

Support rating

Shown as the support bar. Light support: Gentle smoothing and a soft hold. Medium support: More noticeable shaping and hold. Strong support: Firm shaping and a secure hold. These are our shaping ratings and apply across the range, recovery garments included.

Before you order

  • Use the size guide on the garment’s own page — each recovery garment has its own chart.
  • Confirm the stage, coverage and closures with your surgeon; they select the fit and wearing schedule.
  • Purchases are final sale, so check both before adding to bag.
